UK RETAIL SALES, JUNE 2021

The UK Office for National Statistics reports that UK retail sales increased in June 2021 following a small decline last month. Compared to February 2020, retail sales volume was 9.4% higher and value was 10.6% higher in June 2021.                 

  • Month-over-month (June 2021 vs May 2021) retail sales value increased 1.6% and retail sales volume (adjusted for price changes) was up 0.5%.
  • Year-over-year (June 2021 vs June 2021) retail sales value increased 13.1% and retail sales volume increased 9.7%.
  • Year-to-date (Jan-June 2021 vs Jan-June 2020) retail sales value was up 11.6% and volume increased 10.9%. 

 

 

Internet sales

  • Online retail sales decreased by 4.7% in June 2021 when compared with May 2021.
  • In June 2021, online sales share of all retail sales decreased to 26.7% from 28.5% in May 2021. Online sales share of all retail sales remains higher than the 19.9% in February 2020.
