October 22, 2021UK RETAIL SALES, SEPTEMBER 2021 The UK Office for National Statistics reports that UK retail sales decreased in September 2021. Compared to February 2020, retail sales volume was 4.2% higher and value was 6.3% higher in September 2021.
- Month-over-month (September 2021 vs August 2021) retail sales value decreased 0.2% and retail sales volume (adjusted for price changes) was down 0.2%.
- Year-over-year (September 2021 vs September 2020) retail sales value increased 2.3% and retail sales volume declined 1.3%.
- Year-to-date (Jan-Sep 2021 vs Jan-Sep 2020) retail sales value was up 8.3% and volume increased 6.7%.
Internet sales
- Online retail sales increased by 0.5% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
- In September 2021, online sales share of all retail sales increased to 28.1% from 27.9% in August 2021. Online sales share of all retail sales remains higher than the 19.7% in February 2020.
