EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, OCTOBER 2021

Year-over-year (October 2021 vs October 2020)

The inflation rate moved up 0.7 percentage points to 4.4% in the European Union and moved up 0.7 percentage points to 4.1% in the Euro Area in October 2021.

The fastest inflation was reported in Lithuania (+8.2%), Estonia (+6.8%), and Hungary (+6.6%) and the lowest inflation rate was in Malta (+1.4%) and Portugal (+1.8%). Annual inflation increased in all member states.

Food price inflation remained stable at 2.3% in the European Union and moved down to 1.8% in the Euro Area.                                                                           

                                                                 

Energy inflation moved up to 22.6% in the European Union and moved up to 23.7% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation moved up to 2.4% in the European Union and moved up to 2.0% in the Euro Area.
