December 15, 2021US RETAIL SALES, NOVEMBER 2021 Month over month (November 2021 vs October 2021, seasonally adjusted)
The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales increased 0.3% to $639.8 billion in November 2021. Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales increased 0.2% ($0.9 billion) to $566.1 billion. Food service and drinking place receipts increased 1.0% to $73.7 billion.
Year-over-year (November 2021 vs November 2020, seasonally adjusted)
Compared to November 2020, US retail trade and food services increased 18.2%. Retail trade increased 16.1% ($78.5 billion), while food services and drinking places sales increased 37.4% ($20.1 billion).
SECTOR ANALYSIS
Year-to-date (Jan-Nov 2021 vs Jan-Nov 2020, seasonally adjusted)
From January to November 2021, retail trade sales increased 18.4%, and food services and drinking places sales increased 30.6% from the same period last year.
Sales were up in all retail categories, the fastest gains reported in clothing stores (+48.8%). The slowest gains were in food & beverage stores (+4.2%).
