UK CURRENT ACCOUNTS, 2021Q3

 

CURRENT ACCOUNT

Quarter vs quarter (2021Q3 vs 2021Q2)

Compared to the previous quarter, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that the net current account deficit widened by £11.0 billion to £24.4 billion.

  • net goods and service deficit widened by £7.9 billion to £10.9 billion
  • net primary income deficit widened by £1.5 billion to £7.1 billion
  • net secondary income deficit widened by £1.6 billion to £6.4 billion

 

Quarter-over-quarter (2021Q3 vs 2020Q3)

Compared to the same quarter last year, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that the current account deficit widened by £16.2 billion.

  • net goods and service deficit widened by £9.7 billion
  • net primary income deficit widened by £5.1 billion
  • net secondary income deficit widened by £1.4 billion

 

GOODS AND SERVICES

 

 

Quarter vs quarter (2021Q3 vs 2021Q2)

Compared to the previous quarter, , the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that exports of goods decreased 8.1% (£6.8 billion). Imports of goods increased 4.4% (£5.2 billion). As a result, net goods deficit widened by £11.9 billion to £46.1 billion.

The United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that exports of services increased 3.6% (£2.6 billion). Imports of services decreased 3.2% (£1.4 billion). As a result, net services surplus widened by £4.0 billion to £35.2 billion.

 

 

 

Quarter-over-quarter (2021Q3 vs 2020Q3)

Compared to the same quarter last year, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that:

  • exports of goods increased 4.1% (£3.0 billion) to £76.6 billion
  • imports of goods increased 14.3% (£15.4 billion) to £122.7 billion.
  • exports of services increased 7.8% (£5.5 billion) to £76.4 billion.
  • imports of services increased 7.4% (£2.8 billion) to £41.2 billion.
