UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, SEPTEMBER 2021 TO NOVEMBER 2021

The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three-month period September to November 2021 was 4.1 per cent, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous three month period.

The UK unemployment rate had generally been falling since late 2013 until the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from December 2019 to February 2020. The unemployment rate increased from February to December 2020, but has fallen since the end of 2020.

There were 1.38 million unemployed people, 356,267 fewer than for a year earlier.

Employment was at 32.5 million, 171,360 more compared with a year earlier.
