UK TRADE BALANCE, DECEMBER & ANNUAL 2021

Month-over-month (Dec 2021 vs. Nov 2021, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods and services trade deficit narrowed by £0.2 billion to £2.3 billion in December. Exports of goods and services increased 1.5% (£0.8 billion) to £55.4 billion, and imports of goods and services increased 0.9% (£0.5 billion) to £57.7 billion.

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit narrowed by £0.3 billion to £12.4 billion. Exports of goods increased 3.1% (£0.9 billion) to £30.5 billion, and imports of goods increased 1.4% (£0.6 billion) to £42.9 billion.

The United Kingdom services trade surplus narrowed by £0.1 billion to £10.0 billion. Exports of services decreased 0.6% (£0.1 billion) to £24.9 billion, and imports of services decreased 0.3% (£0.0 billion) to £14.8 billion.

Year-over-year (Dec 2021 vs. Dec 2020, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit narrowed by £4.1 billion. Goods trade deficit narrowed by £6.1 billion while services trade surplus narrowed by £1.9 billion.

Annual 2021

The United Kingdom goods and services trade changed from a surplus (£2.9 billion) in 2020 to a deficit of £28.8 billion in 2021. Exports of goods and services increased 2.3% (£13.6 billion) to £619.0 billion, and imports of goods and services increased 7.5% (£45.2 billion) to £647.7 billion.

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit widened by £26.4 billion to £155.8 billion. Exports of goods increased 3.8% (£11.6 billion) to £320.5 billion, and imports of goods increased 8.7% (£38.0 billion) to £476.3 billion.

The United Kingdom services trade surplus narrowed by £5.2 billion to £127.1 billion. Exports of services inceased 0.7% (£2.0 billion) to £298.5 billion, and imports of services increased 4.4% (£7.3 billion) to £171.4 billion.

UNITED KINGDOM TRADING PARTNERS

Month-over-month (Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £1.0 billion to £4.5 billion. Exports of goods increased 7.2% (£1.0 billion) to £14.9 billion, and imports of goods remained stable at £19.4 billion.

The United Kingdom non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £0.6 billion to £7.9 billion. Exports of goods decreased 0.4% (£0.1 billion) to £15.6 billion, and imports of goods increased 2.5% (£0.6 billion) to £23.5 billion.

Year-over-year (Dec 2021 vs. Dec 2020, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £5.3 billion and non-EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £0.8 billion.

Annual 2021

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £15.9 billion to £70.2 billion. Exports of goods increased 3.8% (£5.5 billion) to £152.3 billion, and imports of goods declined 4.4% (£10.4 billion) to £222.5 billion.

The United Kingdom non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £42.3 billion to £85.7 billion. Exports of goods increased 3.7% (£6.1 billion) to £168.2 billion, and imports of goods increased 23.5% (£48.3 billion) to £253.9 billion.
