US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, JANUARY 2022

Month over month (Jan 2022 vs. Dec 2021, seasonally adjusted annual rate)

US construction spending increased 1.3% to $1,677 billion. This follows a revised gain of 0.8% reported in December 2021, when construction spending totaled $1,656 billion. Total Residential construction increased 1.3% to $838 billion. Total Non-residential construction spending increased 1.3% to $839 billion.

Private sector construction increased 1.5% to $1,327 billion. Private residential construction increased 1.3% to $829 billion, while private non-residential construction spending increased 1.8% to $497 billion.

Public sector construction increased 0.6% to $351 billion. Public residential construction increased 3.6% to $9.0 billion, while public non-residential construction spending increased 0.5% to $342 billion.

 

Year over year (Jan 2022 vs. Jan 2021)

US Construction spending is spending is up 8.2%.

Private sector construction spending is up 11.0%. Private residential construction spending is up 13.4%, while private non-residential construction spending is up 7.3%.

Public sector construction spending is down 1.3%. Public residential construction spending is down 5.6%, while public non-residential construction spending is down 1.1%.
