LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - FEBRUARY 2022

MONTH OVER MONTH (Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

• Labour force increased 0.3% (1,400) to 509,800
• Employment increased 0.8% (3,700) to 476,300
• Unemployment decreased 6.1% (2,200) to 33,600
• Unemployment Rate decreased 0.4 percentage points to 6.6%.

In Canada, 

• Labour force increased 0.6% (130,300) to 20,648,200
• Employment increased 1.8% (336,600) to 19,512,700
• Unemployment decreased 15.4% (206,300) to 1,135,500
• Unemployment Rate decreased 1 percentage points to 5.5%.

In Halifax,  (3-month moving average) 

• Labour force decreased 0.1% (200) to 256,100
  Employment increased 0.2% (400) to 241,600
  Unemployment decreased 4.6% (700) to 14,500
  Unemployment Rate decreased 0.2 percentage points to 5.7%.

 

YEAR OVER YEAR (Feb 2022 vs Feb 2021, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

• Labour force increased 0.5% (2,400)
• Employment increased 2.5% (11,700)
• Unemployment decreased 21.5% (9,200)
• Unemployment Rate decreased 1.8 percentage points

In Canada,

• Labour force increased 2.0% (405,900)
• Employment increased 5.1% (954,600)
• Unemployment decreased 32.6% (548,800)
• Unemployment Rate decreased 2.8 percentage points

In Halifax, (3-month moving average)

• Labour force decreased 1.5% (3,900)
• Employment increased 1.2% (2,800)
• Unemployment decreased 31.6% (6,700)
• Unemployment Rate decreased 2.5 percentage points

NOTE:
