EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MARCH 2022

The Euro Area (19 countries) unemployment rate edged down 0.1 percentage point to 6.8% in March 2022, down from 8.2% in March 2021. 

For the broader European Union (27 countries), the unemployment rate edged down 0.1 percentage point to 6.2% in March 2022. In March 2021, the EU27 unemployment rate was 7.5%.

Among major European economies, the unemployment rate was highest in Spain, Greece, and Italy. The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Czechia, Poland, Germany and Malta.
