EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, APRIL 2022

Year-over-year (April 2022 vs April 2021)

The inflation rate moved up to 8.1% in the European Union and was stable at 7.4% in the Euro Area in April 2022.

 

The fastest inflation was reported in Estonia (+19.1%) and Lithuania (+16.6%) and the lowest inflation rates were in Malta (+5.4%) and France (+5.4%).                       

                                        

Food price inflation increased to 8.9% in the European Union and to 7.7% in the Euro Area.

Energy inflation slowed down to 37.5% in the European Union and 35.6% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation increased to 4.1% in the European Union and 3.5% in the Euro Area in April.
