US TRADE BALANCE, APRIL 2022

Month over month (Apr-22 vs. Mar-22)

The US net trade deficit narrowed by $20.6 billion to $87.1 billion. The net goods deficit narrowed by $19.1 billion to $107.7 billion, and the net services surplus widened by $1.5 billion to $20.7 billion.

Total exports increased 3.5% (+$8.5 billion) to $252.6 billion. Exports of goods increased 3.6% (+$6.1 billion) to $176.1 billion. Exports of services increased 3.3% (+$2.4 billion) to $76.5 billion.

Total imports decreased 3.4% (-$12.1 billion) to $339.7 billion. Imports of goods decreased 4.4% (-$13.0 billion) to $283.8 billion. Imports of services increased 1.7% (+$0.9 billion) to $55.9 billion.

Year over year (Apr 2022 vs. Apr 2021)

The US net trade deficit widened by $21.4 billion. The net goods deficit widened by $20.2 billion, and the net services surplus narrowed by $1.1 billion.

Total exports increased 21.7% (+$45.0 billion). Exports of goods increased 22.4% (+$32.2 billion). Exports of services increased 20.1% (+$12.8 billion).

Total imports increased 24.3% (+$66.3 billion). Imports of goods increased 22.7% (+$52.4 billion). Imports of services increased 33.1% (+$13.9 billion).
