Nova Scotia food services and drinking places receipts increased 14.1% to $172.1 million. Canada's food services and drinking places receipts increased 5.8% to $7.18 billion. All provinces reported monthly increases in food services and drinking places, with Nova Scotia reporting the largest gain, and Alberta reporting the smallest gain in percentage terms.
Year-over-Year ( Apr 2022 vs. Apr 2021, seasonally adjusted)
Nova Scotia food services and drinking places receipts increased 31.0%.Canada's food services and drinking places receipts increased 57.9%. All provinces reported year-over-year increases in food services and drinking place receipts, with Ontario reporting the largest gain and Prince Edward Island reporting the smallest gain in percentage terms.
Year-to-Date (Jan-Apr 2022 vs Jan-Apr 2021, seasonally adjusted)
Nova Scotia food services and drinking places receipts increased 13.0% ($591.8 million). Canada's food services and drinking places receipts increased 38.2% ($25.6 billion). All provinces reported year-to-date increases in food services and drinking place receipts, with Quebec reporting the largest gain and Prince Edward Island reporting the smallest gain in percentage terms.
Nova Scotia Sales by Establishment Type (Jan-Apr 2022 vs. Jan-Apr 2021, unadjusted)
Compared with Jan-Apr 2021, the gains in food service and drinking place receipts have been most pronounced for Nova Scotia's full-service restaurants and limited-service eating places. In percentage terms, the increases have been greatest for special food services, full-service eating places and drinking places.
Trends
In April 2022, National food services and drinking places sales werewell above pre-pandemic levels. All provinces reported sales above February 2020.
