UK CURRENT ACCOUNT, 2022Q1

Quarter vs quarter (2022Q1 vs 2021Q4)

Compared to the previous quarter, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that the net current account deficit widened by £44.4 billion to £51.7 billion.

  • net goods and service deficit widened by £27.3 billion to £33.4 billion
  • net primary income changed from a surplus of £4.7 billion to a deficit of £12.4 billion
  • net secondary income deficit widened by £0.005 billion to £5.8 billion

Exports of goods decreased 3.2% (£2.8 billion) and imports of goods increased 21.4% (£27.3 billion). As a result, net goods deficit widened by £30.1 billion to £68.6 billion.

Exports of services decreased 0.1% (£0.1 billion) and imports of services decreased 6.1% (£2.9 billion). As a result, net services surplus widened by £2.8 billion to £35.2 billion.
