MANUFACTURING SHIPMENTS, JUNE 2022

Month over month (seasonally adjusted, June 2022 vs May 2022)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments decreased 10.8% to $992 million. National shipments decreased 0.8% to $71.8 billion.

Manufacturing shipments were lower in 8 of 10 provinces, led by provinces in the Atlantic region. Manitoba had the highest growth.

 

Year over year (seasonally adjusted, June 2022 vs June 2021)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 10.4%. National shipments increased 18.8%.

Manufacturing shipments were up in 9 of 10 provinces, led by Manitoba and Alberta.  Newfoundland and Labrador was the only province to report a decline.

Year to date (seasonally adjusted, Jan-June 2022 vs Jan-June 2021)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 8.2%. National shipments increased 19.9%.

Manufacturing shipments were up in 9 of 10 provinces, led by New Brunswick, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Newfoundland and Labrador was the only province to report a decline.

Nova Scotia's durable goods shipments increased 7.4%, while non-durable goods shipments increased 10.1%. In Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 4.3%, while non-durables increased 7.4%. Outside Halifax,  durable goods shipments increased 10.9%, while non-durables increased 10.6%.

Trends 

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments were 21.8% higher in June 2022 than in February 2020. National shipments have also been trending upwards and were 27.1% higher in June 2022 when compared to February 2020 levels.
