September 14, 2022UK CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, AUGUST 2022 
Year-over-year: UK Consumer Price Index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 8.6% in August 2022, compared with August 2021. The largest contributions to rising UK inflation came from "housing and household services (principally from electricity, gas and other fuels, and owner occupiers' housing costs), transport (principally motor fuels), and food and non-alcoholic beverages."
Month over month: CPIH and CPI annual inflation rate continued its increase between July and August with a downward contribution in part due to a fall in price of motor fuel between July and August 2022.
UK inflation has been more volatile than prices in Canada. Over the last year UK prices rose faster than those in Canada, but in recent months, price growth has been similar for the two countries.
