September 14, 2022MANUFACTURING SHIPMENTS, JULY 2022 Month over month (seasonally adjusted, July 2022 vs June 2022)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 0.5% to $922 million. National shipments decreased 0.9% to $71.6 billion.
Manufacturing shipments were up in 5 of 10 provinces, led by New Brunswick and Saskatchewan. Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest decline.
Year over year (July 2022 vs July 2021)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 11.3%. National shipments increased 19.1%.
Manufacturing shipments were up in 9 of 10 provinces, led by New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Newfoundland and Labrador was the only province to report a decline.
Year to date (seasonally adjusted, January-July 2022 vs January-July 2021)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 9.4%. National shipments increased 20.6%.
Manufacturing shipments were up in all provinces except Newfoundland and Labrador. New Brunswick reported the fastest growth.
Nova Scotia's durable goods shipments increased 8.9%, while non-durable goods shipments increased 9.6%. In Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 7.4%, while non-durables increased 8.0%. Outside Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 10.6%, while non-durables increased 10.0%.
Trends
After reporting a large increased in May of 2022, Nova Scotia's seasonally adjusted manufacturing shipments have fallen back towards previous trends. Periodic spikes in Nova Scotia's shipments values are not uncommon. Throughout most of 2022, Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments growth has lagged the national pace.
