EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, SEPTEMBER 2022

Year-over-year (September 2022 vs. September 2021)

The inflation rate moved up to 10.9% in the European Union and was up to 9.9% in the Euro Area in September 2022.

The fastest inflation was reported in Estonia (+24.1%), Lithuania (+22.5%), and Latvia (+22.0%) and the lowest inflation rates were in France (+6.2%) and Malta (+7.4%).                                                   

Food price inflation increased to 15.8% in the European Union and to 14.1% in the Euro Area.

Energy inflation increased to 39.4% in the European Union and 40.7% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation increased to 5.7% in the European Union and 4.8% in the Euro Area in September 2022.
