EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, OCTOBER 2022

Year-over-year (October 2022 vs. October 2021)

The inflation rate moved up to 11.5% in the European Union and was up to 10.6% in the Euro Area in October 2022.

The fastest inflation was reported in Estonia (+22.5%), Lithuania (+22.1%), Hungary (+21.9%) and Latvia (+21.7%) and the lowest inflation rates were in France (+7.1%), Spain (+7.3%), and Malta (+7.4%).                                                   

                                                  

Food price inflation increased to 17.8% in the European Union and to 15.9% in the Euro Area.

Energy inflation slowed to 38.7% in the European Union and increased to 41.7% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation increased to 6.0% in the European Union and 5.0% in the Euro Area in October 2022.
