LABOUR FORCE SURVEY, NOVEMBER 2022

MONTH OVER MONTH (November 2022 vs October 2022, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force decreased 2,100 (-0.4%) to 513,600
  • Employment increased 1,600 (0.3%) to 482,500
  • Unemployment decreased 3,800 (-10.9%) to 31,000
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.7 percentage points to 6.0%

In Canada

  • Labour force decreased 13,700 (-0.1%) to 20,715,900
  • Employment increased 10,100 (0.1%) to 19,666,300
  • Unemployment decreased 23,800 (-2.2%) to 1,049,600
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.1 percentage points to 5.1%

In Halifax,  (3-month moving average) 

  • Labour force increased 1,000 (0.4%) to 265,600
  • Employment increased 1,600 (0.6%) to 251,700
  • Unemployment decreased 600 (-4.1%) to 13,900
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.3 percentage points to 5.2%

 

YEAR OVER YEAR (November 2022 vs November 2021)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force increased 2,600 (0.5%)
  • Employment increased 13,800 (2.9%)
  • Unemployment decreased 11,400 (-26.9%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 2.3 percentage points

In Canada,

  • Labour force increased 156,100 (0.8%)
  • Employment increased 368,700 (1.9%)
  • Unemployment decreased 212,600 (-16.8%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 1.0 percentage points

In Halifax, (3-month moving average)

  • Labour force increased 8,400 (3.3%)
  • Employment increased 10,700 (4.4%)
  • Unemployment decreased 2,300 (-14.2%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 1.1 percentage points
