CANADA TRADE BALANCE, OCTOBER 2022

GOODS

In October 2022, Canada's international export of goods increased to $67.0 billion (+1.5% from September 2022). Canada’s goods imports also increased (+0.6%) in October to $65.8 billion. The international trade surplus in goods widened by $607.5 million from September to October, rising to $1,214 million.

                                                                                              

Export of goods to the United States from Canada in October 2022 increased 1.3% to $50.7 billion while imports of goods from the US edged down 0.1% to $40.7 billion.  Canada's trade surplus in goods with the US widened by $689.4 million to $10.0 billion in October 2022.  

Canada's exports of goods to China increased 25.4% to $3.3 billion in October.  Canada's imports of goods from China fell 3.7% to $6.0 billion.  Canada's deficit in goods trade with China narrowed by $905 million to $2.7 billion.  

In September, Canada's exports of goods to the European Union increased by 3.8% to $3.2 billion.  Canada's imports of goods from the EU were up 4.4% to $6.4 billion.  Canada's deficit in goods trade with the EU widened by $149.6 million to $3.2 billion.

SERVICES

Canada's international exports of services increased 1.6% to $13.9 billion in October. Canada's imports of services during the same month increased 2.0% to $15.8 billion. Canada's deficit in international service trade widened by $95 million to $1.9 billion.

GOODS AND SERVICES

Canada’s international exports of goods and services increased 1.5% to $80.9 billion in October. Canada's international imports of goods and services grew by 0.9% to $81.7 billion.  Canada's overall international trade balance in goods and services narrowed by $512.5 million to $0.7 billion.
