December 15, 2022US RETAIL SALES, NOVEMBER 2022 Month over month (November 2022 vs October 2022, seasonally adjusted)
The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales have decreased to $689.4 billion (-0.6%). Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales decreased 0.8% while food service and drinking places rose 0.9%.
Year-over-year (November 2022 vs November 2021, seasonally adjusted)
US retail trade increased 5.4% and food services and drinking places sales increased 14.1%.
Year-to-date (Jan-Nov 2022 vs Jan-Nov 2021, seasonally adjusted)
During the first eleven months of 2022, the United States retail trade and food services increased 9.6%. Retail trade increased 8.5% and food services and drinking places sales increased 17.6%.
Sales were up in 12 of 13 retail categories, the only decline (in percentage terms) was seen in electronics (-6.4%) while the the fastest gain was reported in gas stations (+32.4%).
