CANADA'S BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS Q4 2022

Quarter-over-quarter (all countries, seasonally adjusted, Q4 2022 vs. Q3 2022)

Canada's current account receipts increased $2.4 billion to $290.0 billion while current account payments increased $4.6 billion to $300.4 billion. The resulting net current account changed to a deficit of $10.64 billion in Q4.

Goods and services exports decreased $2.4 billion to $236.2 billion while goods and services imports decreased $2.8 billion to $239.0 billion. The resulting goods and services trade balance deficit narrowed by $0.4 billion to $2.78 billion.

Goods exports were down $4.0 billion to $193.9 billion while goods imports decreased $3.2 billion to $192.2 billion. The goods surplus narrowed by $0.8 billion to $1.7 billion in Q4.

Services exports were up $1.6 billion to $42.3 billion while services imports increased $0.4 billion to $46.8 billion. The services deficit shrunk by $1.2 billion to $4.5 billion in Q4.

Primary income receipts increased $4.5 billion to $48.7 billion while primary income payments increased $7.2 billion to $55.4 billion. The primary income deficit widened by $2.8 billon to $6.8 billion in Q4.

Secondary income receipts increased $0.3 billion to $4.9 billion while secondary income payments increased $0.2 billion to $5.9 billion. The resulting net secondary income deficit decreased by $0.2 billon to $1.1 billion in Q4.
