EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, FEBRUARY 2023

Year-over-year (February 2023 vs February 2022)

The inflation rate slowed to 9.9% in the European Union and  to 8.5% in the Euro Area in February 2023.

The fastest inflation was reported in Hungary (+25.8%), Latvia (+20.1%), and Czechia (+18.4%) and the lowest inflation rates were in Luxembourg (+4.8%) and Belgium (+5.4%).

Food price inflation increased to 19.5% in the European Union and to 17.7% in the Euro Area. 

 Energy inflation slowed to 16.6% in the European Union and to 13.7% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation increased to 6.6% in the European Union and 5.6% in the Euro Area in February 2023.
