The Japanese economy expanded at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 1.6% in the first quarter of 2023 . Japan's real GDP has been fluctuating between growth and contraction since the beginning of 2021. Japan's real GDP was 1.3% larger in Q1 2023 than it was at the pre-pandemic period (Q4 2019).
