EU AND EURO AREA GDP, Q2 2024 (PRELIMINARY)

In the first GDP estimate for Q2 2024, Eurostat estimates the seasonally adjusted annualized growth rate for real GDP was +1.3% for the European Union and +1.2% for the Euro Area (a subset of 20 of the 27 nations of the European Union).  Both accelerated slightly from the pace of economic growth established in Q1.  

Among member states for whom data was available, growth was fastest in Poland, Ireland and the Netherlands.  Latvia, Hungary, Sweden and Germany reported GDP declines in Q2 2024.
