August 15, 2024US RETAIL SALES, JULY 2024 Month over month (July 2024 vs June 2024, seasonally adjusted)
The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales increased 1.0%. Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales increased 1.1%. Food service and drinking place receipts increased 0.3%.
Year-over-year (July 2024 vs July 2023, seasonally adjusted)
US retail trade and food services increased 2.7%. Retail trade increased 2.6% and food services and drinking places sales increased 3.4%.
Year-to-date (January-July 2024 vs January-July 2023)
Sales were up in 8 of 12 retail categories. The largest decline (in percentage terms) was seen in furniture while the fastest gains were in non-store retailers and miscellaneous stores.
