EURO AREA CURRENT ACCOUNT, JUNE 2024

Month over month (June 2024 vs May 2024, seasonally adjusted)

The European Central Bank reported today that the Euro Area

  • Current account surplus widened by  €12.9 bllion to €50.5 billion.
  • Goods trade surplus wideneded by €4.2 bllion to €38.6 billion.
  • Services trade surplus narrowed by €2.6 billion to €11.7 billion.
  • Primary income surplus widened by €11.3 billion to €14.4 billion.
  • Secondary income deficit widened by €0.024 billion to €14.2 billion.

Compared with May 2024 the Euro Area's exports of goods increased by 0.3% to €247.1 billion in June 2024. Imports of goods decreased 1.6% to €208.6 billion.   

Exports of services from the Euro Area increased by 0.7% to €120.8 billion while imports of services to the Euro Area increased 3.3% to €109.1 billion in June 2024.  

Primary income receipts for the Euro Area decreased by 2.1% to €106.8 billion while payments decreased by 12.8% to €92.4 billion in June 2024. 

Secondary income receipts in the Euro Area increased by 9.6% to €15.3 billion while secondary income payments from the Euro Area increased by 4.8% to €29.5 billion.
