August 30, 2024EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JULY 2024
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was down to 6.4% (-0.1 percentage point) in July 2024. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.0% in July 2024.
In July, youth unemployment rates declined to 14.5% from 14.6% in June in the European Union and down to 14.2% from 14.4% in June in the Euro Area. The unemployment rate for females in the European Union was down to 6.1% in July from 6.2% in June while the male unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.8%. The Euro Area unemployment rate for females was down to 6.6% in July from 6.7% in June 2024 while the unemployment rate for males was stable at 6.2%.
Among EU member state economies, the July unemployment rates were highest in Spain and Greece. Unemployment rates were lowest in Czechia and Poland.
