JAPAN LABOUR FORCE SURVEY, JULY 2024

Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 2.7% in July 2024. Compared with the previous month, Japan's labour force declined 0.1% while employment contracted by 0.3%.

Japan's unemployment rate has been stable since 2022, with slow growth in both labour force and employment.  In contrast, Canada and Nova Scotia have experienced faster growth in both labour force and employment, but also with a rising trend in unemployment rates since 2022.  Nova Scotia's unemployment rate has been more volatile.
