US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, JULY 2024

Month over month (July 2024 vs June 2024), seasonally adjusted annual rate)

US construction spending decreased 0.3% to $2,162.7 billion.                                                                                                                                                    

  • Total residential construction decreased 0.4% to $952.9 billion.
  • Total non-residential construction spending decreased 0.2% to $1,209.8 billion.
  • Private sector construction decreased 0.4% to $1,678.7 billion.
  • Public sector construction increased 0.1% to $484.0 billion.                                                           

Private residential construction decreased 0.4% to $941.6 billion, while private non-residential construction spending decreased 0.4% to $737.2 billion.

Public residential construction decreased 2.6% to $11.3 billion, while public non-residential construction spending increased 0.2% to $472.6 billion.

 

Year-to-date (January-July 2024 vs January-July 2023)

US construction spending increased 8.4%. 

  • Total residential construction increased 8.4%.
  • Total non-residential construction spending increased 8.3%.                                                       
  • Private sector construction increased 7.5%.
  • Public sector construction increased 11.3%.
