Labour productivity of Canadian businesses decreased at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 0.7% from Q1 2024 to Q2 2024, following a loss of 1.1% in Q1 2024. Hours worked increased 2.5% and output was up 1.8%.
Total compensation per hour increased at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 2.4% in Q2 2024, the thirteenth consecutive increase since the first quarter of 2021. Unit labour costs of Canadian businesses increased at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 3.1% in Q2 2024.
