January 19, 2018UK RETAIL SALES, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2017 The UK Office for National Statistics reports that in December 2017 retail sales were down 0.9 per cent in value terms, comparing with November 2017. Excluding the impact of rising prices, retail sales volumes were down 1.5 per cent in December.
UK retail sales in 2017 were up 4.8 per cent in value terms - the fastest such growth since 2011, but much of this increase is attributable to rising prices. Excluding price growth, UK retail sales volumes were up 1.9 per cent in 2017 - the slowest volume growth since 2013.
