- Labour Force increased 0.7% (3,500) from July 2018 to 496,100 and increased 1.5% (7,400) over August 2017.
- Employment increased 0.3% (1,200) from July 2018 to 454,600 and increased 2.1% (9,200) over August 2017.
- Unemployment increased 5.9% (2,300) from July 2018 to 41,500 and decreased 4.2% (-1,800) over August 2017.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.4 percentage points from July 2018 to 8.4%.
In Canada August 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour Force decreased 0.1% (-16,800) from July 2018 to 19,825,700 and increased 0.8% (153,200) over August 2017.
- Employment decreased 0.3% (-51,600) from July 2018 to 18,630,500 and increased 0.9% (171,700) over August 2017.
- Unemployment increased 3.0% (34,800) from July 2018 to 1,195,200 and decreased 1.5% (-18,500) over August 2017.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points from July 2018 to 6.0%.
In Halifax August 2018, (3 month moving average, seasonally-adjusted):
- Labour Force increased 0.5% (1,200) from July 2018 to 250,700 and increased 4.0% (9,600) over August 2017.
- Employment increased 0.1% (300) from July 2018 to 233,700 and increased 4.5% (10,100) over August 2017.
- Unemployment increased 5.6% (900) from July 2018 to 17,000 and decreased 2.9% (-500) over August 2017.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.3 percentage points from July 2018 to 6.8%.
