MONTH OVER MONTH (Apr-22 vs Mar-22, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force increased 3,800 (0.7%) to 512,100
  • Employment increased 5,900 (1.2%) to 481,500
  • Unemployment decreased 2,200 (-6.7%) to 30,600
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.5 percentage points to 6.0%

In Canada, 

  • Labour force increased 1,000 (0.0%) to 20,686,300
  • Employment increased 15,300 (0.1%) to 19,600,500
  • Unemployment decreased 14,400 (-1.3%) to 1,085,800
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.1 percentage points to 5.2%

In Halifax,  (3-month moving average) 

  • Labour force increased 2,400 (0.9%) to 258,000
  • Employment increased 3,700 (1.5%) to 245,500
  • Unemployment decreased 1,300 (-9.4%) to 12,600
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.5 percentage points to 4.9%

 

YEAR OVER YEAR (Apr-22 vs Apr-21)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force increased 5,700 (1.1%)
  • Employment increased 15,900 (3.4%)
  • Unemployment decreased 10,100 (-24.8%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 2.0 percentage points

In Canada,

  • Labour force increased 425,000 (2.1%)
  • Employment increased 964,900 (5.2%)
  • Unemployment decreased 539,900 (-33.2%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 2.8 percentage points

In Halifax, (3-month moving average)

  • Labour force decreased 4,000 (-1.5%)
  • Employment increased 4,600 (1.9%)
  • Unemployment decreased 8,500 (-40.3%)
  • Unemployment rate decreased 3.2 percentage points
