Presentence Reports

Presentence Reports

If an offender (youth or adult) enters a guilty plea or is found guilty, a judge may request the preparation of a presentence report (PSR) to assist in the sentencing process. The report is investigated and prepared by a probation officer. Based on information provided by the offender and other sources, the report includes social and background information as well as an assessment of the offender's prior response to community or custodial sentences.
