Dunn’s and Monks Head Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 76-972 (August 17, 1976), N.S. Reg. 141/76


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 27th day of July, A.D., 1976, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Dunn’s and Monks Head Beach, in the County of Antigonish, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-66, marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.


 

Schedule “A”


All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Dunn’s and Monks Head Beach, in the County of Antigonish, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-66, attached hereto and marked Schedule “B” and being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at a point shown as Point “A” on said plan, said point situated approximately 600 feet southeasterly of the intersection of a gravel road leading from Monks Head to Pomquet Beach and a private road leading to a private residence situated on a high point of land overlooking St. Georges Bay, said point having grid coordinates (N 16, 593, 045.633, E 917, 968.886) based on Zone 4 of the Nova Scotia Three Degree Transverse Mercator Projection, Central Meridian 61° 30' West Longitude;


From thence (by grid bearings referenced to Zone 4) north forty-one degrees fifty-two minutes eleven seconds west six thousand one hundred forty-three decimal zero eight feet to a point shown as Point “B” on said plan and having coordinates (N 16, 597, 620.163, E 913, 868.748);


Thence north seventy degrees forty minutes nine seconds west seventeen thousand fifty-two decimal zero five feet to a point shown as Point “C” on said plan and having coordinates (N 16, 603, 264.748, E 897, 778.032);


Thence north fifty-five degrees thirty-two minutes nine seconds east nine thousand two hundred forty-two decimal twenty feet to a point shown as Point “D” on said plan and having coordinates (N 16, 608, 494.816, E 905, 398.048);


Thence south fifty-four degrees twenty-one minutes fifty-seven seconds east twenty-two thousand thirty-two decimal ninety-six feet to a point shown as Point “E” on said plan and having coordinates (N 16, 595, 658.282, E 923, 305.445);


Thence south sixty-three degrees fifty-four minutes fifty-three seconds west five thousand nine hundred forty-one decimal seventy-eight feet to the place of beginning.


Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying seaward from the mean high watermark.
