Hirtles Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 75-900 (August 5, 1975), N.S. Reg. 155/75


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 4th day of July, A.D., 1975, pursuant to subsection (1) of Section 5 of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Hirtles Beach, in the County of Lunenburg, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy of the Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-63, and described in Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


Commencing at an iron post situate on the westerly boundary of a public road leading to Hirtles Beach (so-called) as shown on Plan E-7-63 on file in the Crown Land Records Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, said post having been set 200 feet landward from the mean high watermark of Hirtles Beach (so-called);


From Thence (by astronomic bearings) N 88° 33' 28" E, 4,630.60' to an iron post cemented in a rock ledge 30 feet landward from the mean high watermark, said iron post being and intended to be the place of beginning as indicated on the aforementioned Plan No. E-7-63;


Thence N 14° 40' 41" E, 170 feet to a point being and intended to be 200 feet landward from the mean high watermark;


Thence in a westerly direction following a line being and intended to be 200 feet landward and parallel to the mean high watermark to an iron post being the place of commencement;


Thence continuing along a line being and intended to be 200 feet landward and parallel to the mean high watermark in a southwesterly direction to a point;


Thence S 65° 19' 19" E, 175 feet to an iron post situated 25 feet landward from the mean high watermark, said iron post also being S 42° 01' 12" W, 4,866.03' from the place of commencement;


Thence continuing S 65° 19' 19" E, 25 feet to the mean high watermark;


Thence in a northeasterly direction along the mean high watermark to a point;


Thence N 14° 40' 41" E, 30 feet to the place of beginning.
