IMAGE INFORMATION

Jeremiah Bartlett Alexis, also known as Jerry Laksi (Mi'kmaq Laksi, from Alexis) took the name Jerry Lonecloud "while performing in Healey & Bigelow's Wild West Show, at Madison Square Gardens, New York City. He was then about 34." Lonecloud married a Maliseet woman, Elizabeth Paul, about 1890, and "the photo was taken four or five years before that." Lonecloud was born at Belfast, Maine, about 1854, and died in Nova Scotia 16 April 1930. [Harry Piers Notes, Nova Scotia Museum Printed Matter File.]
