IMAGE INFORMATION

Taken during the 1936 filming of a Mi'kmaq porpoise-hunt, this photograph shows the dice-game waltes, made and played by the Mi'kmaq in the same way for at least the last 400 years. The children, left to right, are Olive Meuse, Ellen Louis and Marguerite Meuse. Looking on at left is Annie Louis, Joe Louis's wife. [Ellen Louis Robinson to R. H. Whitehead, personal communication, 1988.]
