Phillips, Mi'kmaq of/ Bear River, N.S./ Andrew was born Oct./28, 1887 at Annapolis Royal, Feb. 1888, see/ Father David Stokes./ Photo taken at Sebois Lake, ME, 1940s." Esther's mother was Mary Cecelia Devoe Phillips, a Maliseet from Woodstock, NB. Esther is standing in front of a log cabin, and is smoking a pipe. One of a series of eight (1998.8.1-8) donated to the Nova Scotia Museum by Richard Dyer. This is a photo of his mother's sister.
