IMAGE INFORMATION

These are more likely to be Maliseet from the Saint Mary's Reserve at Fredericton; the canoes are a Maliseet shape. However, the label reads "Micmacs." The prince is H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, touring Canada in 1860. Sir Henry Acland (1815-1900) was made honorary physician to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, after accompanying him on his visit to Canada in 1860. ["Acland, Sir Henry Wentworth."
