IMAGE INFORMATION
This collection of five dolls is thought to have been made somewhere in the Annapolis Valley, N.S., by a non-Mi'kmaq. The five adults—two male, three female—plus a baby carried in its mother's robe, have faces made from kid-glove material, with glass beads for eyes. Their clothing is accurate for the period. One man and one woman carry exquisitely made replicas of Mi'kmaq woodsplint baskets, of various sizes and functions. Mi'kmaq families often traveled around the Maritime provinces, making and selling baskets like these.
