Who is eligible to apply for the 2018 Moose Hunting License Draw?

You are eligible to apply if:

  • you are a resident of Nova Scotia
  • you are 18 years of age or over by the third Monday in September
  • you have not held a Nova Scotia Moose hunting license within the past five years (2013-2017)
  • your hunting privileges are not suspended
  • you have a valid Nova Scotia Wildlife Resources Card

When to Apply

Application period is from May 1st 2018 at 7:00 AM until May 31st 2018 at midnight. Applications are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the application period.

Before you Apply

You will need:

  • Your Wildlife Resources Card ID number (First 9-digits)
  • The Season in which you want to hunt.
  • The Moose Hunting Zone in which you want to hunt
  • Confirm your current phone number, email address and mailing address are correct on your Wildlife Resources Card profile. Without current contact information, you may not receive notifications regarding your success in the draw


  • Moose Draw application fees are non-refundable
  • Applicants may apply once for the regular motorized access hunt and once for the non-motorized access hunt (Seasons 1 to 6, Zone 5).
  • An applicant wishing to apply to both hunts must submit two separate applications and will be charged the application fee for each application.
  • If an applicant is drawn for both the regular motorized-access hunt and for the non-motorized access hunt, they must choose which hunt they would like to participate in and forfeit the other.

Applicants who choose not to apply online or by phone may apply by downloading and completing the Mail-in Application Form. Completed applications are to be mailed, along with an application fee of $11.70 plus HST = $13.45 to:
