Welcome to the Department of Natural Resources Wildfire Management web site. We've been around for a long time. In fact, Nova Scotia has had organized forest fire protection legislation since 1761.

Mission: To protect the property and woodlands of Nova Scotia by providing leadership and support in wildfire management

The Wildfire Management Group provides forest fire management services for the province of Nova Scotia including:

• Resources necessary for managing forest fires
• Policy development and strategies
• Fire prevention and detection
• Fire training
• Fire equipment to support forest fire suppression
