Species at Risk Overview

Included below is the contact information for Recovery Team Chairs, and additional information such as COSEWIC or NS Status Reports, Recovery or Management Plans, a link to Recovery Team websites for each of NS's species at risk. Once a species is listed under the NS Endangered Species Act a Recovery Plan is developed for 'Endangered' and 'Threatened' Species and a Management Plan for 'Vulnerable' species. Also, for all 'Endangered' and 'Threatened' species, a Recovery Team is formed with representation from government, academia, industry, aboriginal peoples, and non-government organizations. Federal listings for species-at-risk under SARA and COSEWIC with relevant recovery strategies and management plans can be found by checking the Species at Risk Public Registry.
