Event: One Day Chainsaw Use and Safety Course

The course will be based on the material found in the Woodlot Management Home Study module 6 (copies will be available at the course), and the Forest Professional. A certified instructor will guide you through the theory and follow up with a field demonstration.

Topics to be covered include: Personal protective equipment, safety features, recommended starting methods, kickback and its dangers, saw handling techniques, tree assessment and prelimbing, basic notch and back cut, controlled directional felling, proper use of felling aids, the basics of bucking and limbing, chainsaw sharpening, and basic saw maintenance. Venue: DNR office, Whycocomagh

Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Date: July 29, 2017
Cost: $46.25 and includes lunch.
