Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill has announced that the Student Internship Employment Program, which provides summer jobs for as many as 275 Nova Scotia students, will be renewed again this year.

"The province is providing approximately $700,000 for this program under the resource enhancement fund," said Mr. MacAskill. "It will mean jobs for 10 weeks for as many as 275 high school and university students."

The forestry-related jobs will start in mid-June and last until late August. High school and post-secondary students who are 16 or older and who are residents of Nova Scotia are eligible to apply.

Application forms will be available beginning Tuesday, May 12, at Department of Natural Resources offices across the province and Human Resources Development Canada Offices. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, May 29.

Students employed under the program will assist with forest renewal projects, wildlife research, forest protection, boundary line clearing and maintenance and other forestry-related work.
