Woodlands Travel Ban Lifted

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

A ban on woodlands travel in Nova Scotia has been lifted. Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill says travel in the woods is permitted effective immediately.

"Conditions have improved to the extent that we can reopen the woods for travel right across Nova Scotia," said Mr. MacAskill. "However, I want to emphasize that the ban on open fires in parks and woodlands remains in force throughout the province."

The travel ban was imposed Aug. 10 because of the extreme forest fire hazard that existed at that time. The ban on open fires has been in place since July 31 and will remain in effect until further notice.
