1999 Nova Scotia Woodlot Owner of the Year

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The Department of Natural Resources is accepting nominations at until Jan. 31 at local offices for the 1999 Nova Scotia Woodlot Owner of the Year.

This is the tenth year the department has recognized owners who manage their woodlot in a sustainable manner. The owner of the year is chosen from six regional winners in May.

"One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a judge is getting to meet some outstanding woodlot owners," said Tim Whynot, a forester with the department. It is really a treat to visit these people and see their woodlot."

The award has traditionally gone to landowners who have a number of interests and carry out a variety of activities on their property.

The winner will host a field day in September which highlights some of the activities on the woodlot. The award is open to residents of Nova Scotia who own a woodlot of 50 acres (20 hectares) or more.
